I love waterfalls, so visiting Iceland was very much a kid-in-a-candy-store experience for me. There were waterfalls seemingly everywhere. And I was happy to shoot each and every one. :)
We made a brief stop at Urriðafos on our second morning in the country. It was frigidly cold, and the wind blowing directly at me meant that I unfortunately could not keep water droplets off my filter.Driving along the southern coast we passed numerous tall, thin unnamed cascades like this one. Imagine being a sheep rancher and this is your pasture fence.
We stayed at an aptly named FossHotel the night after visiting Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon, and Grófarlækjarfoss just happened to be right alongside their driveway. Ridiculous.
Danelle found Stjórnarfoss just a couple of minutes off our route. Totally worth the stop -- we had the place to ourselves for a while before a tour bus arrived as we were leaving.
The waterfall in Iceland is Seljalandsfoss. We had driven past it once and it appeared the trail behind it was closed, presumably due to icy conditions. When we stopped for our visit, not only was the trail open but we had a nice chunk of blue sky. After Diamond Beach, this was my favorite stop on the entire trip: majestic, powerful, breathtaking.
Just one more post to go!
