Less than a week after the last North Texas snowstorm, Wednesday night brought yet another one. I'll say this much; the brochure about living here was very misleading. Well, at least snow is pretty.
Conditions had cleared by morning, and even though temperatures were cold the Texas sun did its number on the snow right away. This tree was already experiencing spring at the top while still mired in winter down low.
I don't know what the ornamental trees around our house that produce these berries are. I'd expected Cedar Waxwings to have swooped in and eaten them all by now. But since they hadn't, they provided a nice additional splash of color in with the green leaves, white snow and blue sky.
The precipitation had started as rain before temperatures dropped overnight. That left some interesting frozen droplets on palm fronds ...
... and bench railings.
This image freaks me out a little bit. Like some alien life form extending its slimy tendrils to try and take over the mind of its unsuspecting human victim. I may have watched too many space horror movies.
Here's the actual image -- palm fronds with sunlight shimmering through icicles on their tips.
Snow days here may not be exactly like snow days in Colorado. But they have just as much beauty if you take your time and look for it!
