My time with the Mount Evans mountain goats was as rewarding as ever. And just because it ended didn't mean I had to be done taking pictures!
When I reached Summit Lake Park -- scene of my glorious sunrise experience --a small group of Rocky Mountain Bighorn Sheep were industriously working to find minerals. And they weren't about to let passing motor vehicles deter them, though they did cast the occasional glance towards the road.
Not everyone was quite so industrious. This young one seemed to think the day was simply too nice for any sort of work.
The faces look so weird straight on, thanks to the placement of their eyes. But ya gotta be able to see those predators.
I always enjoy the Lincoln Lake overlook, and it was looking mighty fine this day.
Even with the sun fairly high in the sky by the time I made it down to Echo Lake, the scene still wasn't too washed out.
Painted Ladies were swarming in the trees outside the Echo Lake Lodge. They'd settle, then when someone got too close they'd erupt from the trees and swirl around haphazardly before repeating the cycle.
Butterflies seem to have a distinctly different opinion of dandelions than most suburban homeowners.
And with that, another fine summer outing to Mount Evans was in the books. I'd checked all the boxes -- captivating sunrise, adorable mountain goats, some nice vistas, and some bonus wildlife. Already looking forward to 2020!
