Taryn and I have a pretty good routine for our day trips to RMNP. We deviated a bit this time for a late breakfast in town at The Other Side restaurant -- a fine establishment, by the way -- then returned for the areas north of the Beaver Meadows Entrance Station.
One of my favorite overlooks for Longs Peak and the neighboring mountains.
A boardwalk at Beaver Ponds. Still haven't seen a beaver there. Or anywhere else in the wild, for that matter. It's on my list with mountain goats and bobcats.
A pretty scene at Many Parks Curve.
Looking down on Alluvial Fan, which appears to have even more silt since the floods last fall.
An unnamed but no less picturesque view.
Didn't have great light by the time we got to Alluvial Fan. Pretty thick clouds had rolled in.
The elk always look a little rough this time of year. I like the new antlers forming on this guy, though.
Speaking of rough. Their coats sure do go through quite a transformation between now and August.
About eight hours to do our loop. As beautiful as this whole state is, it's always nice to get back to the grandeur of RMNP!
