I decided to get up just once for sunrise while we were in Oklahoma. It was a vacation, after all. :)
As usual, what I was blessed to see made me not regret the sleep I lost one bit.
I'd seen what seemed like a great spot the day before driving through Beavers Bend State Park. Any placed named Overlook Drive is probably going to be a good candidate for this sort of endeavor. I got there nice and early, walked around looking for just the right spot to set up, and waited.
I took three stabs at an HDR panoramic. My level wasn't right on, so it ended up not spanning as much area as I'd hoped. But not a bad result.
The lake was high, and some shore trees were still partially submerged. I composed to get them in this scene right after the sun had crested the horizon, and I think they add a little tension to the otherwise tranquil moment.
I relocated after I got what I'd hoped for, and found a great spot down on the river with some lingering morning mist.
The old reliable "make sure you turn around and see what's behind you" tactic worked again to perfection. Great view back toward the risen sun.
One last lingering look down the river, and another satisfying sunrise was done!
