Taryn and I were looking to complete a spring scenery trifecta on our Sunday in Arkansas. After starting the day in Hot Springs National Park then following it up with a hike at Lake Catherine State Park, an afternoon stop at Garvan Woodland Gardens was the ideal call. Frankly, I think the chance to see some natural beauty with a little less walking appealed to both of us.
The calendar said late winter, but the buds and blooms were screaming spring.
A peacock seemed to have the run of the gardens, and was quite popular with younger visitors.
The blossoms on a saucer magnolia were a stunning shade of pink.
I couldn't find a sign saying exactly what these flowers were, but I liked their close-to-the-ground appeal.
Tulips were the stars of the hour at the facility, and for good reason. Not much to say about the next several shots other than that the tulips looked even better in person.
We walked less than half of the gardens and only spent about an hour there. Stomachs growling, we decided to call it a day and find a late lunch. But I was glad we squeezed in this last stop for the day!
